The Shrewsbury Ark

Farmer Phil’s Festival supporting local causes

People travel from all over the UK and further afield to partake in our wonderful week of music and laughter, enjoying the beautiful Shropshire Hills scenery throughout their stay.  At Farmer Phil’s Festival, we are all too aware of our impact on the local environment and the community.  Wherever possible, we’ve built facilities from reclaimed wood and other materials as we strive to make the Festival as sustainable as we can.

But it isn’t just about where we sourced the wood for each stage.  While we all enjoy the Festival for everything it offers, there are those local to us for whom the prospect of visiting a music festival will seem a million miles from reality, often for the most desperate of reasons.  That’s why this year Farmer Phil’s Festival is pledging its support for two very worthy local causes: The Shrewsbury Ark and Telford Crisis Support.

The Shrewsbury Ark

The Shrewsbury Ark seeks to provide the basic things that most people take for granted.  Visitors to the Ark can obtain warm clothes, bedding, personal items and a hot meal or cup of tea and a chat when they need it.  It can also support visitors if they require professional advice or help.  When ready, The Shrewsbury Ark is ready to give visitors opportunities to build self-confidence and develop their potential.  It relies entirely on donations each year to continue providing these services.

Telford Crisis Support

Telford Crisis Support was established in 2012 and includes local service providers from public, private and third sector organisations who work to provide an efficient network of support services for people in crisis in Telford & Wrekin.  Its mission is to ensure that no one in the borough of Telford and Wrekin should need to go without the basic essentials to keep themselves and their families sheltered, fed, clean, clothed, warm and healthy.

Farmer Phil’s Festival is appealing to all visitors this year to support these wonderful local initiatives by contributing to a food collection during the week.  There will be a collection point on site for you to leave non-perishable food items and we really hope you’ll all get on board with this to help make a real difference to the lives of people local to the Festival.  Just think, if each visitor donated just one can of food, that will give us 2,000 cans of food to divide between The Shrewsbury Ark and Telford Crisis Support!

Let’s all have fun this August, but let’s do some good in the process!
